The BC Skills Force Project is a joint initiative of the British Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Community Futures Development Association of BC. These two organizations decided to combine efforts and investigate the issue of skills shortages and its impact on small business. Their goal was to connect directly with BC businesses to get their perspective on the issue and to engage them in the process of helping to develop potential solutions.

The first phase of the BC Skills Force Initiative surveyed over 2,000 small businesses in Southern British Columbia in July and August 2005. The second phase of the Initiative is currently taking place in Northern British Columbia.
